The Musée Jacquemart-André is hosting a major exhibition, the result of an unprecedented collaboration with the prestigious Galleria Borghese in Rome. For the first time in France, more than forty masterpieces from this iconic collection are unveiled to the public, offering an exceptional journey through Italian and European art from the Renaissance to the 17th century.
This exhibition offers a captivating immersion into the world of the great masters who shaped the history of Western art, with masterful works by renowned artists such as Caravaggio, whose revolutionary chiaroscuro marked his era, or Bernini, the versatile genius of Baroque sculpture. The chromatic virtuosity of Titian and Veronese stands alongside the timeless grace of Botticelli‘s figures and the classical perfection of Raphael. The creations of Rubens, Jacopo Bassano, Lorenzo Lotto, Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Baglione, and Annibale Carracci enrich this dazzling panorama, testifying to the diversity and artistic richness of this prosperous period.
Beyond the mere presentation of exceptional works, the exhibition explores the themes and inspirations that nourished these artists, highlighting their creative genius and lasting influence on art history. It also pays homage to the vision and refined taste of Scipione Borghese, the enlightened collector behind this remarkable ensemble.

The history of the Borghese collection is intimately linked to that of its founder, Cardinal Scipione Caffarelli-Borghese.
At the beginning of the 17th century, this ambitious and art-loving churchman, nephew of Pope Paul V, set out to build one of the most important private collections of his time. Taking advantage of his privileged position, he employed all means at his disposal to acquire exceptional works, even going so far as to build a sumptuous villa in Rome to house them.
Over the centuries, despite some episodes of dispersion, the Borghese collection has continued to grow, thus preserving its status as an invaluable artistic treasure. Today, the Galleria Borghese, housed in the original villa, remains a striking testament to the golden age of Baroque Rome and its cultural influence.
This exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André thus offers a unique opportunity to discover, outside the walls of the Villa Borghese, an exceptional segment of this artistic heritage, inviting the public to an unprecedented dialogue between the masterpieces of the Roman collection and the Parisian setting that hosts them.
