From 19 March to 3 August 2025, the Jacquemart-André Museum is presenting an exhibition dedicated to Artemisia Gentileschi, an iconic figure of Baroque art and the Caravaggio movement.
This exhibition offers an exceptional journey through major works and paintings rarely seen by the Parisian public, providing a unique opportunity to discover this remarkable 17th-century Italian artist.

The exhibition ‘Artemisia, Heroine of Art’ brings together approximately forty paintings, including recognised masterpieces, works recently attributed to the artist, and pieces rarely exhibited outside their usual place of conservation.
This selection highlights Artemisia Gentileschi‘s significant contribution to the history of 17th-century art.
In particular, the exhibition aims to reveal the uniqueness of her work, her professional career and her artistic identity, elements that continue to inspire admiration and interest to this day.
Artemisia’s story transcends time, and the interpretation of her work – a testament to her personal experience and resilience – retains a timeless and universal resonance.
Curators
Patrizia Cavazzini, associate researcher at the British School in Rome, advisor to the American Academy and member of the scientific committee of the Borghese Gallery.
Maria Cristina Terzaghi, professor of modern art history at the University of Roma Tre and member of the scientific committee of the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples.
Pierre Curie, general curator of heritage. A specialist in 17th-century Italian and Spanish painting, he has also worked on 19th-century French painting at the Petit Palais Museum, where he began his career as a curator.
This exhibition is presented under the patronage of the Italian Embassy.
