Le Plus Grand Musée de France
In 2025, FAB Paris will once again host a wonderful initiative, ‘Le plus grand musée de France’, a sponsorship campaign launched over ten years ago by the Fondation pour la Sauvegarde de l’Art français, aimed at involving civil society in the restoration of our communities’ treasures.
Every town and village in France has a large number of works of art in its buildings and public spaces: paintings, sculptures, elements of our memorial, industrial or scientific heritage, all of which are subject to the ravages of time. Without the vigilance of citizens and without restoration, these shared landmarks will disappear.
The aim of the ‘Le plus grand musée de France’ is to enable everyone to report these works so that they can be protected and passed on to future generations. This educational initiative aims to give young people an appreciation of the heritage treasures that surround them and to enable them to follow the stages of restoration. In 10 years, ‘Le plus grand musée de France’ has enabled the restoration of 300 works of art, raised €2.2 million, initiated 20 partnerships with universities and Grandes Écoles, and involved 70,000 people.
Because heritage is everyone’s business, FAB Paris is offering its visitors the opportunity to discover the initiative in 2024, centred on the ‘Eglise Trimphante’ (Triumphant Church) by Italian painter Paolo de Matteis, which is kept in the Church of Saint-François-de-Sales in Paris and has received €8,000 in sponsorship from Allianz France for its restoration.
