Founded in 1952 in Paris, the gallery Berès specializes in two distinct fields: Japanese art and 19th and 20th century French avant-garde paintings. This specialization brings together Barbizon School artists such as Corot, Rousseau, Harpignies and Jongkind along with Impressionists and Post-impressionists, especially the Nabis.

The gallery has forged its reputation through various solos exhibitions (Goya, Manet, Marquet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Edouard Vuillard and Bonvin).

The gallery Berès specializes in the full range of 20th century art movements including Cubism (Picasso, Braque, Gris, Gleizes, Herbin and Metzinger) and abstract art (Asse, Bazaine, Bissière, Fautrier, de Staël, Calder, Michaux, Soulages, Hantaï and Zao Wou-ki).
