Founded in 1969 by Kiyoshi Taménaga in Tokyo, the gallery then opened new spaces in Osaka and Pairs in 1970. At the time, Galerie Taménaga was one of the first galleries to introduce western art in Japan, since the gallery has specialized in Impressionist, modern and contemporary paintings, and has many masterpieces in it collection such as paintings by Cézanne, Renoir, Redon, Rouault, Van Dongen, Dufy, Picasso, Klee, Chagall…

Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2019, Galerie Taménaga is one of the leading defender of the current Asian artistic scene. For some years now, the gallery has increasingly promoted accomplished and promising contemporary artists mainly of Chinese and Japanese origins such as Chen Jiang-Hong, Takehiko Sugawara, Kyosuke Tchinaï, Tamihito Yoshikawa, Kengo Nakamura, as well as many western talents like the New York City based painter Tom Christopher or Lorenzo Fernández from Spain.

The gallery’s recurring participation in many art fairs around the world, as well as the variety of exhibitions organized within its three galleries, have long established Galerie Taménaga’s reputation on the international artistic scene.
