18k yellow gold (750‰) bracelet, composed of a wide, supple, tightly woven mesh band, created by weaving drawn gold wires to form a dense and homogeneous structure.
The band is then pressed, textured, and engraved, creating a regular grid pattern of intersecting lines reminiscent of a “Prince of Wales check”.
The band is reinforced with soldered ends, allowing for the attachment of a whale-tail clasp and a safety catch, demonstrating exceptional technical skill. The entire piece is finished and polished, preserving the relief of the engraved decoration.
A behind-the-scenes supplier to the major names on the Rue de Paix and Place Vendôme, Jacques Lenfant is recognised as the master of ribbon and chain jewellery in the 20th century. Here, he presents a bracelet as supple as a fabric of light.
Heir to a dynasty of goldsmiths, Jacques began his career at the age of eleven in the workshop of his father, Georges, who was then serving in the army. An exceptional chain maker, Jacques LENFANT is undoubtedly one of the most illustrious jewellery designers of his era. The most prestigious houses recognised his talent: Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, Hermès, Mauboussin, and Mellerio, among others, counted him as one of their trusted goldsmiths.
Long remaining in the shadows, he now stands out as one of the most celebrated inventors of interlacing and gold fabrics of his century. The bracelet we are presenting is a perfect illustration of his talent, which consists less in shaping the metal than in revealing its light.
