Founded in 2017 by Baptiste Lopez, MALA Gallery opened its gallery in Nice in September 2025.
The gallery curates a programme dedicated to 20th-century abstraction, with a particular focus on the Second School of Paris. It is committed to presenting coherent collections of museum-quality works, bringing together major post-war figures through a rigorous curatorial approach.
It also supports contemporary artists whose work extends this exploration of gesture, line and light.
MALA Gallery regularly takes part in international art fairs such as Art Paris, Moderne Art Fair, Antica Namur and Ceramic Brussels.
For its first appearance at Fine Arts Paris, MALA Gallery presents the exhibition “Hans Hartung & Anna-Eva Bergman Gesture and Silence”. This exhibition sets out to juxtapose Hans Hartung and Anna-Eva Bergman through a fundamental tension: that between gesture and silence. Two major strands of post-war abstraction, rarely juxtaposed in such a direct manner, are brought together here in a dialogue centred on the line.
