Villa Rosemaine is a neoclassical country house in the west of Toulon, home to a unique collection of antique textiles and costumes dating from the 18th to the 20th century. This centre for the study and promotion of textile heritage was founded by the collector Serge Liagre in 2010 and now houses a private museum in its second-floor gallery.
The concept behind the Villa’s guided tours is to create a cross-disciplinary dialogue between the textile collections and the Provençal seaside architecture of Villa Rosemaine, which dates from the Belle Époque, as well as its ‘priest’s garden’ featuring Mediterranean and exotic plant species. Serge Liagre has been a collector for some fifty years. Through the Villa, he has established an enterprise that is both cultural and commercial, enabling him to maintain his independence. He is thus involved in the buying and selling of fashion pieces, dealing not only with private collectors but also with prestigious museums in France and abroad.
On the cultural front, Serge Liagre regularly curates exhibitions for museums in France and cultural institutions. Based at the Villa since 2015, he has presented an annual themed and catalogued exhibition, open to the public from September to May since 2024.
Serge Liagre is a member of the CIETA in Lyon (International Centre for the Study of Antique Textiles) and, since 2025, has been a fashion and textile expert at the CNES (National Chamber of Experts Specialising in Works of Art and Collectables).

Court suit and breeches of the Marquis d’Aligre in embroidered velvet, dating from the First French Empire or the early Restoration.
A straight-collared coat and breeches in black and purple miniature-patterned velvet, embroidered with the utmost magnificence.
Polychrome silk embroidery in flat satin stitch and knot stitch, featuring tinsel, sequins, pastilles and silver and blue glass navettes, with stylised bouquets of flowers and foliage on the front, pockets, tails and collar.
